March 25, 2016Posted by Webmaster

The little Theresa was operated from 1895 to as late as 1961 by several companies, including the Theresa Gold Mining Company, the Vindicator Consolidated, the United Gold Mines Company, and the Golden Cycle Mining Company. It was operated on and off during this period. The entire surface plant was destroyed by fire in 1934, replaced with what you see today. The closing of the Carlton Mill in 1961 led to the final closing of the mine.

The metal frame, rebuilt in 1934. The ore drop shoots at the bottom left are open, showing ore still sitting up there, never to have been used. Metal railroad tracks are bent and partially buried at the bottom.

Inside the change house. Note the sitting bench. The room in the distance looked to be a food prep area. (Stove, cabinets, etc.)
