Colorado Ghost Town Photography - Parrot City, Colorado
John Moss arrived in 1872, persuading the Parrot Banking company to invest in La Plata Canyon. At one time, his newly created Parrott City was the La Plata county seat.
Leaving Parrott City in the mid 1880s, the remaining miners became disillusioned. Low grade ore, transportation problems, and a harsh environment doomed the town. Today, Parrott City is on private property and no remains are visible.
However, this lucky photographer just happened to encounter the land owner on the county road checking his mail. He allowed me to drive up his driveway and photograph two original structures.
