Colorado Ghost Town Photography - Banker Mine, Colorado

The Banker Mine was started in the late 1890's and operated, off and on, until as late as 1927. It bragged a tunnel 3,700 feet long and shipped mostly silver and lead. Being one of the best producers in the area, the mine was well equipped with boarding houses, office, assay office, 100 horse-power boilers and compressors. In November of 1903 The Mining News reported, "Mr. Stahler, manager, has shipped 7 cars of ore within the last 6 weeks, the average of which ran better than $100 to the ton. The last car of first grade that was sent out ran 335 ounces silver to the ton.
