Colorado Ghost Town Photography - Romley, Colorado

November 16, 2016Posted by Webmaster

The Romley site consists of the mine the road goes through and a large flat area below where the workers lived. As such, no further caption data will be added.

Romley was a town supported by the Mary Murphy Mine, the name of a Denver nurse who cared for John Royal, a part in its discovery. He named the mine after her for her kindness. Peak employment was 250 men, but the mine closed in 1917. The post office was opened and closed several times until 1924, and in 1926 the rails were removed. Most structures were destroyed in a fire in the 1940s.
