Colorado Ghost Town Photography - Howardsville, Colorado

November 14, 2016Posted by Webmaster

Founded in 1872 by George Howard, the town still has some occupants. Along with all the usual businesses, Howardsville also had a brewery. When La Plata county was created from Conejos County, for a time, Howardsville was the county seat. Eventually, the seat was moved to Silverton. Like the other towns of the Alpine Loop such as Eureka and Animas Forks, the rails were pulled and the town abandoned.
